The Northland Arboretum grounds feature several rental event spaces—both indoor and outdoor—available for both large- and small-scale gatherings. Spread across four beautiful gardens and two fully equipped meeting rooms, Northland Arboretum can accommodate almost any gathering—including budget-conscious nature weddings, graduations, concerts, seminars, educational courses, class reunions, showers, training sessions, workshops, and celebrations of life.
Our two interior rental spaces, the Fireside and Creekside rooms, are located in our Visitor Center and include all the amenities you could need for a successful gathering, including a full kitchen, A/V hookups, and more. Our four outdoor event spaces—including three gazebos and a memorial garden—offer stunning views perfect for budget nature-inspired weddings and family gatherings. When renting, guests can choose to bundle indoor and outdoor event spaces for a discount. Guests can choose to either bring their own food or partner with a caterer of their choice.

Fireside Room
The smaller of our two indoor rental spaces, the Fireside room is located on the upper floor of our visitor center. The Fireside room offers a warm, inviting, and delightfully rustic atmosphere—complete with a stone-accented gas fireplace, wood beam roof, and a large, covered wooden deck providing scenic views of the arboretum. The Fireside room is perfect for small- to medium-sized events like wedding receptions, birthday parties, and class reunions.

The Fireside room also includes two flat-screen TVs, audio and video hookups, wireless internet, and optional 6′ and 8′ rectangular tables, 60″ circular tables, and chairs at no additional cost.

The Creekside room is the larger of our two event rental spaces, located on the ground floor of our visitor center. The Creekside room features a sleek, modern look with a connected, covered outdoor patio, making it ideal for larger events like corporate seminars, workshops, awards ceremonies, and budget weddings.

The Prairie Gazebo is a picturesque, open-air event rental space, perfect for casual events, picnics, and gatherings. The Prairie Gazebo includes a tree swing, gazebo, and decorative archway. To top it off, the Prairie Gazebo is just across the road from the nature playscape, providing younger guests with the perfect place to enjoy nature.

Holden Gazebo

The Holden Gazebo is a peaceful outdoor event space next to the rain garden and just a short walk from the Visitor Center. This elegant white gazebo provides a beautiful backdrop for budget-conscious nature weddings, intimate ceremonies, and quiet moments of reflection. A small waterfall nearby adds a soothing ambiance, making this a truly enchanting space for any occasion.

Our Memorial Garden outdoor event space features a cascading waterfall, a charming bridge, and a brick pathway winding through the nearby nature. This peaceful and picturesque setting is perfect for reflection, ceremonies, and memorial services.

Graduations, Events, Parties, Receptions (non-weddings)
Northland Arboretum’s vast outdoor spaces and cozy indoor retreats make the perfect venue for all types of parties and gatherings, including graduations, birthdays, celebratons of life, Christmas parties, graduations, showers, grooms dinners and more. Party rentals have access to the same indoor and outdoor spaces as our other rental options.

Yes! For an additional fee, guests can rent optional amenities such as:

Is there anything I should know before booking an event?
Here’s some general information about booking an event at Northland Arboretum:
- A walkthrough is necessary for open & close procedures
- Renters may bring in their own food or use a caterer of their choice
- Liquor may only be supplied by a caterer that provides a Minnesota liquor license and certificate of liability insurance
- Payment is due two weeks prior to day of rental
Wedding Rental FAQs
I have never been to the Arboretum; can I have a tour of your facilities?
- Yes, please call during business hours, and we can set up a time for a tour for you and your fiancé.
Can I make my own food and bring it to the Arboretum?
- Yes, you may bring in your own food or have it catered. You may not sell any food. We do not require you to go with a certain caterer if you decide to have food catered.
Can we have alcohol at the Arboretum?
- Yes, you may have alcohol at the Arboretum. It does need to be served by someone with a liquor license. We also need to have a certificate of liability on file from the bartender. You can not serve your own liquor.
Do tables and chairs come with the rental?
- Yes, tables and chairs come with the rental of the conference rooms.
Do you provide tablecloths?
- No, you will need to rent your own linens.
Do you have a dance floor?
- There are hardwood floors throughout the lower-level Creekside Room. There is not a dance floor in our upper-level Fireside Room.
Do I have to hire security?
- No, we have a staff member on site to watch the building and to lock up for weddings. This is included in the fees. For general rentals, extra fees do apply for rentals after 4:00 pm.
Can I hold my wedding and my reception at the Arboretum?
- We have four outdoor options for a wedding, or you may also get married in one of our conference rooms or under one of our covered areas. After, you may hold your reception in one of our conference rooms.
Can we also hold our grooms dinner/practice dinner at the Arboretum?
- Yes, with your rental, you can get into the conference to start decorating or have the grooms dinner/practice at 5:00 pm on the day before you wedding until 11:30 pm. You can get into the building again at 10 am the next day until 11:30 pm.
Are open flames allowed at the Arboretum?
- No, there are no open flames allowed. There is also no smoking and no grilling allowed at the Arboretum.
