Nature Book Club – The Nature Fix: Why Nature Makes Us Happier, Healthier, and More Creative by Florence Williams
Date: Monday, November 9
Time: 2:00–3:30 PM
Book: The Nature Fix: Why Nature Makes Us Happier, Healthier, and More Creative by Florence Williams
Location: Northland Arboretum
Book Summary:
Join us for an afternoon of thoughtful conversation as we discuss The Nature Fix by journalist Florence Williams.
Why does spending time outdoors make us feel better? Williams travels from the forests of Japan to the parks of Finland and the mountains of Utah to explore what science reveals about nature’s effects on our minds and bodies. Along the way, she meets researchers studying how time in natural settings may ease stress, restore attention, and support creativity and well-being.
Part science writing, part travel story, The Nature Fix invites us to look more closely at the role nature plays in our everyday lives—and what we may be missing when we spend too much time indoors. Whether you enjoy hiking, gardening, science, or simply a good book, this month’s selection offers plenty to reflect on and discuss.
This event is free to attend and is a wonderful opportunity to connect with others in our community who enjoy nature, literature, and engaging conversation.
Come ready to share your thoughts in a relaxed and welcoming setting. Attendees are responsible for obtaining their own copy of the book. All are welcome—we hope to see you there!
Please note: Nature Book Club meetings will now take place the second Monday of each month from 2:00–3:30 PM.
Register early to receive discussion questions in advance.
