Book Summary:
Join us for an evening of meaningful conversation as we discuss Waiting for Unicorns by Minnesota author Beth Hautala. This heartfelt novel follows twelve-year-old Talia as she navigates the challenges of growing up after her mother experiences a traumatic brain injury. While spending the summer at her grandparents’ cabin in northern Minnesota, Talia searches for hope, healing, and the legendary unicorns said to roam the nearby wilderness.
Set against the backdrop of Minnesota’s forests and lakes, the story explores themes of resilience, family, friendship, and the healing power of nature. Hautala beautifully captures the comfort that wild places can provide during life’s most difficult moments, making this an inspiring and thought-provoking read.
