Book Summary:
Join us for an evening of meaningful conversation as we discuss A Year in the Wilderness: Bearing Witness in the Boundary Waters by Minnesota adventurers and conservationists Amy and Dave Freeman.
In an effort to raise awareness about threats facing the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Amy and Dave spent an entire year living within its borders. Traveling by canoe, ski, snowshoe, and dogsled, they experienced the Boundary Waters through every season while sharing the beauty, challenges, and importance of protecting one of Minnesota’s most treasured wild places.
Through stories and stunning photography, A Year in the Wilderness offers an intimate look at what it means to truly live alongside nature. The book explores themes of conservation, adventure, resilience, and our responsibility to protect wild places for future generations.
Whether you’ve paddled the Boundary Waters yourself, dream of visiting someday, or simply enjoy stories about nature and adventure, this month’s selection offers plenty to reflect on and discuss.
This event is free to attend and is a wonderful opportunity to connect with others in our community who enjoy nature, literature, and engaging conversation.
Come ready to share your thoughts. We hope to see you there!
