Nurtured by Nature

The Northland Arboretum's first Women's Wellness Workshop

The Northland Arboretum invites you to be part of Nurtured by Nature, the Northland Arboretum’s first Women’s Wellness Workshop to be held the evening of Thursday, January 26th from 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Arboretum. Our goal is to help you learn how to use nature as a backdrop to their overall health and wellbeing. This inaugural event will feature presentations, demonstrations, activities, more than 20 educational booths, wellness screenings, and advice from various clinicians.

The cost is $5 for a ticket, which includes a swag bag, the opportunity to visit with area health and wellness vendors, and admission to 4 inspiring and helpful health workshops!

Jackie Burkey became a U of M Extension Master Gardener in 2007 after moving back to Minnesota in 2006 following 28 years in Central Texas.  She turned her North Brainerd yard into an Edible Landscape and especially loves to grow hardy roses and dahlias.

Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist Hanna Christenson has practiced at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center for 8 years as a registered dietitian/nutritionist. She specializes in medical weight management and works with oncology patients to optimize their nutrition through all stages of treatment.

 

Hanna received her Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with a minor in Psychology from North Dakota State University-Fargo.

Managing stress is a necessary part of life, and there are several strategies you can use to help reduce your stress levels. Join me as I discuss a few strategies you can use to manage your stress and begin to de-stress your life. Participants will also be guided through a short relaxation session and walk away with a self-care workbook they can use to bring less stress and more relaxation into 2023!

 

This informative and interactive session is being led by Cathy Christy, owner of Advanced Massage & Skincare Specialists in Nisswa. Cathy has worked in wellness for over 25 years and holds a Master's Degree in Community Health Education, along with being triple licensed in massage therapy, esthetics, and advanced practice esthetics.

Outdoor Yoga

Sessions available at the top of the hour.

Danielle Arnold, owner of Notice Wellness in Nisswa will be leading outdoor yoga sessions. Danielle is an active part of the Brainerd Lakes Community and a certified yoga instructor.

Intro to Cross Country Skiing

Members of the Brainerd Nordic Ski Club will be available to share how to get started in this healthy and growing winter sport. The Arboretum has amazing cross country ski trails and you can be on them in no time at all with the help of our BNSC members.

SnowShoe Hike

Have you wanted to try snowshoeing but just didn't have the equipment? Snowshoes will be available free of charge during the event so you can get the best experience. Try a short loop on the Arb trails and get excited about this easy outdoor winter sport.
