Maintenance & Grounds Supervisor

Reports to: Executive Director
Employment Details: 30-32 hours a week. Starting pay $15.00/hour.

Physical Demands:
Operation of machinery, lifting up to 60 pounds, manual labor including use of hand tools and power equipment. Job will change seasonally. Duties include but are not limited to, trail grooming, trail maintenance, some construction, snow removal, mowing, clearing of trees and brush, landscaping, gardening and other land management responsibilities. General maintenance/repairs and cleaning of the Visitor Center.

Working Conditions:
Majority of time spent outdoors in all four seasons.

Job Summary:
The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive and continual maintenance of the 540 acres which encompass the Arboretum and supervise the part-time, seasonal and volunteer staff.

Essential Duties:

  1. Trail and grounds grooming and maintenance, tree and brush removal
  2. Landscaping, gardening, mowing, trimming and general grounds upkeep
  3. Snow removal
  4. Operation of power tools, small engines and some heavy equipment
  5. Maintenance of buildings as needed
  6. Supervision of maintenance staff
  7. Assist with events as needed
  8. Be available on call when needed, occasional weekends
  9. Maintaining equipment
  10. Other duties as assigned.
    Knowledge and Experience:
    Knowledge of landscape equipment operation. A role model for students and volunteers.
    Position Qualifications:
    High School Diploma or GED
    Background check will be preformed
